BAYFIELD, CO – February 11, 2020 –TBK Bank, SSB today announced the donation of $5,000 to the Bayfield Education Foundation. As a major educational driver for the community of Bayfield, the Bayfield Education Foundation has recently begun supporting the Pueblo Community College (PCC) satellite campus located in Bayfield. The TBK Bank donation will be used to create scholarships for PCC students and to support the Community Treehouse, an indoor play area that provides supervised play for children ages 0-10 while their parents are in the Treehouse lounge or at PCC classes.
“Bayfield Education Foundation’s purpose is to provide the means by which educational opportunities are made available to the community through scholarships, class sponsorships, and supporting organizations that help dismantle barriers to education,” said Melissa Zimmerman, Market Sales Manager for TBK Bank. “TBK Bank is very proud to sponsor this organization as we know the needed funds will be distributed to provide the greatest impact in Bayfield and surrounding communities.”
Barbara Wickman, secretary of the Bayfield Education Foundation, explained that a portion of this donation will be used to support PCC students “for instructional support at K-12, capital projects at Bayfield schools, pre-school scholarships, and college scholarships for this year’s BHS seniors.”
“Our commitment to the community of Bayfield goes deeper than monetary donations,” said Zimmerman. “TBK Bank will also provide three free financial literacy courses at the PCC campus in 2020. Each class will be held at 4:00pm and 5:30pm on various days. On March 24th, the class will focus on money basics, such as spending habits; the June 2nd class will focus on protecting your money and knowing how to spot scams; the October 6th class will focus on holiday gift budgeting.” Free, supervised play at the Community Treehouse will be provided for the children of those attending these classes.
