DALLAS – June 7, 2022 – The Texas Bankers Foundation has selected TBK Bank, SSB as a recipient of the 2022 Cornerstone Award, recognizing its initiative, The Workshop by TBK Bank. The Cornerstone Award recognizes and rewards Texas banks committed to being the cornerstones of their communities. The Texas Bankers Association announced the award winners during its 137th Annual Convention awards luncheon on May 19.
Opened in early 2021, The Workshop by TBK Bank, located near downtown Dallas, provides a community makerspace for those interested in learning trade skills and creating things. The Workshop features an innovation lab, a metal shop, a woodshop, a ceramics studio and a jewelry studio. Members include a mix of hobbyists, entrepreneurs, and students who have full access to the state-of-the-art workshop 24 hours a day.
TBK Bank’s four philanthropic priorities include establishing viable communities, serving the less fortunate, giving people a second chance, and training future leaders. The Workshop serves the city of Dallas by providing adult trade skills education, hosting camps that expose young people to new opportunities and fostering partnerships with nonprofits that allow the bank to reach beyond its own walls. “Work done in our community is the foundation of everything we do at The Workshop,” said Cody Seabolt, director of The Workshop by TBK Bank. “If we aren’t providing opportunities for people to improve their lives, whether through workforce development, youth programming, or support for entrepreneurs, we’re missing our mark.”
